Some people avoid relationships because of having fear to tell a partner and then being rejected.

It is up to you to inform others of your std. Though when you date someone you need to decide when it is the moment to tell your potential partner that you are infected. It can be very stressful because when you really like someone this fear of rejection is multiplied by the fear of losing this person.

The good thing about this is that after you disclose you will know for sure your partner’s attitude as for your state and you, however difficult it may be, will be able to move on.

Some people consider it’s a betrayal when they were told about it after having sex. So be honest and tell your potential partner before you become sexually active.

There are things you can do to get through this difficult conversation.

Prepare for the conversation. Remember that the purpose of the conversation is to disclose your state, though moving on is the end goal. Educate yourself if you do not know enough about the disease. Involve your partner into the conversation. Encourage him/her to ask questions. Think over the questions your partner may ask you.

For example: How did you get std? What are the ways of its transmission? Is it curable? etc.

How to begin. Use opening phrases like these: “I have something I’d like to discuss with you that I think you need to know”, “I’d like to talk to you about my health state and I really want to hear your feelings about this”. Try to stay calm and confident.

Before the conversation practice it with a trusted person or practice speaking in front of a mirror.

Prepare for the worst but hope for the best. You still have a future! Millions of people who have STDs are happy, have relationships, married, have children and enjoy life. Be one of them because everything is in your hands.

Herpes is a virus that can affect anyone and the numbers of those infected with Herpes is growing. Finding out more about the Herpes virus will help you to become more knowledgeable about this virus and the treatment options that are available.

Herpes viruses belong to a Herpesviridae family which contains more than 70 representatives. The most dangerous for people are Herpes Simplex Virus HSV types 1 and 2, varicella-zoster virus which causes varicella (chickenpox) and herpes zoster (shingles), cytomegalovirus (CMV), Epstein-Barr virus, Human Herpes Virus HHV types 6 and 7. Herpesviruses are wide spread in the human population and able to affect almost all organs and systems of a human body, which result in various latent, acute and chronic forms of lifelong infection.

Statistics show that about 45 million people are infected with herpes virus in the USA, 1 million of new herpes infections per year. Herpes Simplex Type 1/HSV-1 and Herpes Simplex Type 2/HSV-2 are the most common. It is necessary to note possible connection between HSV2 and tumour development, in particular, cervical cancer, prostate cancer and atherosclerosis as well.

Symptoms of both viruses (HSV 1/HSV 2) are identical and when you view these two viruses under a microscope, they are almost completely identical. They share a great deal of the same DNA. Even though the two viruses are very similar under a microscope, the difference between HSV 1 and HSV2 is in where they typically establish latency in the body.

HSV 1 lies latent in the nerve cells in the upper part of the body in the cranial nerves. HSV-2 lies latent in the dorsal root ganglia located in the lower part of the back. HSV type 1 usually causes small blisters on the mouth, eyes, lips and rarely genital area. HSV type 2 usually affects the genital area. Though either virus can easily cause an infection genitally or orally. The virus becomes active when your immune system is low. It travels through the nerve pathways and causes outbreaks. The lower immunity the oftener outbreaks. Some of the reasons of the virus activation, so-called triggers, are:

Emotional stress;
Somatic diseases (flue, diabetes, HIV);
The use of alcohol and caffeine;
Smoking;
Excessive exposure to sunlight;
Menstrual periods;
Overstrain and exhaustion;
Undernutrition/diet;
Hypothermia or hyperthermia.

Herpes (HSV) Symptoms

Herpes simplex virus can show no symptoms (asymptomatic), at least two-thirds of infected people have no symptoms, or symptoms too mild to notice. Typically, the first outbreak is the worst, it occurs within 2-20 days after the virus is transmitted and can last up to 2 or 3 weeks, skin pain can last for 1 to 6 weeks. Visible signs are skin redness, small red bumps with liquid. Then they rupture becoming ulcers that itch, burn and even can bleed. The ulcers dry out and crust over. When the crusts fall off, the area heals back to normal usually with no scars.

Other Symptoms With the First Herpes Outbreak:

Swollen lymph glands;
Muscle aches;
Headache;
Fever;
Vaginal or penis discharge;
Burning sensation during urination;
Lower back pain.

Usual sites for genital herpes in women are labia minora and labia majoria, perineum, clitoris, vagina, vulva, inner thigh, urethra and cervix.

Usual sites for genital herpes in men are the penis or the shaft, around the anus and on the buttocks.
The symptoms in women and men are alike: itching, burning sensation on passing water (when urethra is affected), swollen inguinal lymph nodes, fever, muscle pain and general uneasiness.

While there is no cure for Herpes, there are many treatment options available. Treatment can be found through a doctor and this is where you will find the most options.

You need to know once you are infected, the virus stays in your body forever and you become a lifetime carrier. During outbreaks you have to be extremely careful about transmission and take precautions to keep others you are dating safe. NOTE, even if you do not have the outbreak, you can still infect other people. When you date someone you are to find the right moment to tell your potential partner that you have herpes or you can choose special places like www.hhsingles.com with people who already have this std.

HPV (human papillomavirus) is something that many people did not know much about until recently. With new preventative measures hitting the scene, there is much more awareness about HPV. Prevention is becoming a topic of conversation and awareness is one of the best methods in preventing the cancer that can appear with a diagnosis of high risk HPV.

There are over 100 types of HPV and many of them cause no symptoms, so-called asymptomatic form. There are around 30 types that are sexually transmitted and this is where the risk lies. Amongst these 30 that are sexually transmitted, there are then high-risk types and low risk types. The one that is most troubling is the high risk or oncogenic and these are the ones that can lead to cervical changes and cancer.

The number one way to become infected with HPV is through sexual contact. This often means vaginal or anal sexual contact. HPV is often not transmitted through oral sexual contact. Warts are sometimes seen with HPV and this is often the low risk type of HPV. With the low risk, the body often eradicates the virus and this can happen in up to 90% of people.

Some people do not show any signs or symptoms and this is a troubling fact about HPV. Almost half of women will have no signs or symptoms even though they are positive for HPV. Genital warts can appear and this can start as a bump in the genital area that does not go away. Genital warts can appear on the outside or the inside of the vagina in women and on the penis for men.

A doctor can generally treat warts and there are several different treatment options to help remove, including surgical removal, any warts that are uncomfortable. Sometimes HPV in women, the cells of the cervix can change. This is the type of HPV that can create the most problems in women and when the cells change, cancer can be the diagnosis. Emotional problems can also be a major problem with a diagnosis of HPV.

Gardasil is something that many people have heard about. This is a vaccine that is given to younger girls and women. This can prevent 2 high-risk forms of HPV and 2 low risk forms that can cause warts. This is not a full preventative and routine screenings for young women with a gynecologist is still recommended.

Knowing the risk factors for HPV can help with prevention also. A diagnosis of HPV is often a very emotional time for many women. There is a lot more knowledge about HPV and this has led to some major breakthroughs in treatment.

1. People with std are doomed to be alone forever because of their diseases

Many people who have contracted a std (herepes or hpv in particular) feel distressed because of their new condition; they are aware of a certain stigma in the society that comes with the diagnosis. Some of the newly diagnosed feel stained and filthy, others think that there will never be something good in their lives. Statistics show that about 45 millions, about one in five, people in the United States are infected with HSV-2, about 1 million new HSV infections can be transmitted annually. And this number does not correlate to personal loneliness of course. It’s All a Matter of Psychology. Some people see the glass half empty. Others see it full no matter what’s going on in their lives. Find your way out: socialize, educate yourself, your friends and members of your family, join std communities, std dating sites where you can find people who will share their experiences with you and where YOU can help someone.

2. Toilet seat transmission

This is perhaps the most common std myth. Herpes is an extremely fragile virus and it doesn’t live outside of the body. On the surfaces of the objects and exposed to the air it dies very quickly.

3. Sores, blisters always accompany an outbreak

An infected person can show no symptoms at all during all his/her life. That’s why many people even do not know they are the carriers of the virus, and can unconsciously transmit the virus to others. A study showed that around 72% of people who had herpes got it from asymptomatic partners.

4. Only People with many sexual partners get herpes

Herpes is a very common virus. According to the latest report of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 1 in 6 Americans has herpes. It is unfairly associated with promiscuous and irresponsible sexual behavior. One can get herpes even if he/she’s had only one or two sexual partners. Herpes can be spread from a mother to her baby during childbirth, though the rate is very low. Some people report to get it after sexual assault. Some people get it from asymptomatic partners.

5. I can not have children in the future

Herpes virus does not affect fertility. If a woman has an outbreak of genital herpes during delivery, a Cesarean section will be recommended.

6. If I use a condom, I won’t transmit the virus

There is no 100% guarantee that one won’t get sexually transmitted infection (including herpes) even when a condom is used.

To reduce the risks of herpes transmission partners should:

-Use a condom;

-Avoid sexual contact during an outbreak;

-A partner-carrier can take a suppressive antiviral therapy which reduces the risks of the virus transmission.

7. Cold sores are just a flu like infection

In fact, so-called blisters and sores are the herpes simplex virus, very often HSV1 type.

8. If I have already sores on my lips/genital area they won’t spread to other parts of my body

One of the rules during an outbreak says that a person who has an outbreak must keep clean the body and hands. If you touch a sore on the lips and then touch your genital area then the chances are high that you pass it to the area.

9. A baby can get herpes through breast milk

The herpes virus cannot be passed through breast milk.

Herpes outbreak. Over the counter remedies,tips and prevention

Herpes is incurable. If you have contracted herpes virus, it will stay in you body forever.

Herpes is treated, herpes does not affect fertility, and you can reduce its reoccurrences.

1. Keep your body clean, wash your hands and clean your fingernails (especially if you wear contact lenses), do not touch the sores (if you touch the sores, you can then transmit it to another person or infect the other parts of your own body, such as the eyes and genitals). The infected area should be clean and dry. The Epson Salt bath lessens pain and dries the sores.

Tip! If you have dry skin, use moisturizer to prevent the skin from becoming over dried. Note! Except for the sores!

2. You should drink plenty of water during the outbreak. The more water the less acidic your urine is. But passing urine is often painful. What helps? Try urinating in a bath of water, in the shower or pouring water over yourself from a bottle or a cup. Tip for women! If you have the outbreak before or during your period, avoid salt because it causes water retention.

3. Avoid wearing tight-fitting clothes and nylon, or synthetic underwear. Loose cotton underwear (Cotton helps to absorb moisture and allows air to circulate) is best until the outbreak goes away.

4. Application of ice on the sores can reduce pain and itching (maximum 15 minuntes).

5. Take over-the-counter painkillers: paracetamol and ibuprofen.

6. Medical studies show that taking zinc helps to reduce the intensity and duration of herpes outbreak. Ask your doctor for advice.

7. Some women report their outbreaks always occur a few days after the start of period, possibly caused by friction from a feminine napkin or tampon. Tip! Try to apply a little of Vaseline on the surface of the vagina while inserting tampons or using pads to avoid irritation.

8. To prevent the outbreaks you need to boost your immune system.
